Two Children Drown In Collected Rainwater

By KRWG News

Vado – Saturday at approximately 4:17 p.m. Dona Ana County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the 28 block of Presa Road in Vado, after it was reported that a father had pulled from a pool of water, his children, ages 5 and 3, who were unresponsive.

The children, according to the father and witnesses, had wandered away from a family gathering.

Noticing that his children were not around, the father immediately started a search of the area with family members, friends and neighbors.

Approximately twenty minutes later, the father discovered his daughter, age 5, floating face down in a large pool of water. Assisted by a neighbor, the father and neighbor dove into the water and pulled the children from the water.
CPR was administered by a friend of the family, while family members waited for medical rescue units to arrive.

Pronounced dead at the hospital were MICHELLE MARMOLEJO, age 5 and her brother, BRANDON MARMOLEJO, age 3.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department.
