Two highway workers in West Texas have died after being hit by a vehicle in a drunken driving investigation involving a soldier stationed at Fort Bliss.
El Paso police say one bridge worker was dead at the scene early Sunday along Interstate 10. The other worker died at a hospital.
Police detained an 18-year-old driver later identified by Fort Bliss officials as a soldier with the 1st Armored Division.
El Paso police on Monday did not immediately release names of the victims or details on charges in what investigators call an alcohol-related accident.
Police say the driver ignored a traffic barricade.
