Juarez, Mexico – Two University of Texas El Paso students died in a shooting attack on a car, and one was the fifth American murdered in Ciudad Juarez in six days.
The U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez says 23-year-old Eder Diaz was killed Tuesday evening along with a classmate. The consulate said it had not yet confirmed whether the other victim was also a U.S. citizen.
An investigator from the state of Chihuahua identified the second victim as 25-year-old Manuel Acosta, and said he was from Chihuahua's capital.
The investigator told the Associated Press that gunmen opened fire on a car in which Diaz and Acosta were traveling.
A university spokesman says Diaz was a business major, while Acosta was a computer information-systems major.
