Under Fire, King Defends His Record

By KRWG News

New Mexico – New Mexico Attorney General Gary King wants to set the record straight on what his office is doing to prosecute high-profile cases, including one involving former Secretary of State Rebecca Vigil Giron.

King called reporters to his Albuquerque office Friday to talk about the cases.

The Democrat says he will not "tuck and run" because of allegations by defense attorneys that his office has conflicts of interest or because a case involves a member of his party or a high-level state official.

King believes there has been an uptick of criticism against him in recent days, but he contends his office has been aggressive when it comes to pursuing public corruption.

He says the pace of some of cases is concerning and frustrating, but he vows not to give up.
