University Museum At NMSU to Host Free Saturday Family Workshops

The University Museum at New Mexico State University will commence the fall 2015 Saturday Family Workshops with a beaded bag decorating class from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

“The workshops provide families with a free weekend activity that is educational and also very fun,” said Erica Davis, public programs coordinator for the University Museum. “The activities we do help people, especially kids, connect with the museum’s exhibits in a more hands-on way.”

Several upcoming workshops will reflect the new exhibit on Native American beadwork, while other activities will relate to ongoing exhibits. There will also be a sugar skull decorating class in celebration of Dia de los Muertos on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Ten workshops are scheduled this semester, all of which are free and open to the public. Supplies are limited and workshops are on a first come, first served basis. Prior registration is only required for groups of 8 or more people.
