UNM Hospital Program Tackles Psychosis
By KRWG News And Partners
The University of New Mexico Hospital has introduced a new mental illness program aimed at curbing psychosis among teens.
KUNM-FM reports that the Early Assessment and Resource Linkage for Youth program will look at how to detect symptoms by age 14. The program is part of a national study on psychosis.
Steven Adelsheim, medical director of the EARLY program, says the project will offer training so that families can recognize signs earlier and be linked to help.
He says the program also will offer parents and teachers a place to raise questions about jumbled homework, sleeplessness and depression.
