UPDATED: Holloman To Host Community Meeting In Las Cruces October 11

WHAT:            The 49th Wing will host a public meeting in Las Cruces, N.M., to educate community members and answer questions about the wing’s flying operations and upcoming mission changes.

WHEN:            6:30 – 8 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012

WHERE:         Doña Ana Community College

           East Mesa Campus Auditorium

2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd., Las Cruces, N.M.

Holloman Air Force Base is home to the 49th Wing, which operates the F-22 Raptor and conducts Remotely Piloted Aircraft training for the MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper. The base also houses the German Air Force Flying Training Center, the 96th Test Group and Holloman High Speed Test Track, the 49th Materiel Maintenance Group, also known as Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) Base, and various other tenant units.

The F-22 Raptor is an advanced supersonic multi-role fighter aircraft. As a result, sonic booms can occasionally be heard in the region despite the wing’s best efforts to limit the effect our operations have on our neighboring communities, including Las Cruces.

In addition to describing the wing’s mission and future changes, 49th Wing leadership will discuss the F-22, define our areas of operation, provide more information about sonic booms and, most importantly, answer your questions at this public meeting.

Please contact 49th Wing Public Affairs at (575) 572-5406 or 49FW.PAOffice@holloman.af.mil with questions or visit www.holloman.af.mil for more information.
