U.S. Border Officials In El Paso Find Over A Ton Of Pot In Farming Equipment

Some cotton farming equipment in West Texas has yielded more than a ton of an illegal crop.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials on Monday announced about 2,100 pounds of marijuana turned up during the search of some equipment at a border crossing in El Paso. Customs authorities estimated the confiscated marijuana has a street value of nearly $1.7 million.

Officers on Friday took a closer look at some farm equipment on a flatbed trailer being hauled from Mexico. An X-ray of the equipment led to officers drilling into some metal rollers where the compressed marijuana was found.

Nobody has been arrested as the investigation continues.
