U.S. Honor Flag Fundraiser Banquet Coming To Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES—A national organization that honors the sacrifices of police, EMS, fire, and military members will host a fundraising banquet during a stay over in Las Cruces. Local heroes will be recognized at the banquet, and The Mayor’s Citation Award for Community Service will be presented to United States Honor Flag founder Chris Heisler. The event will take place on Thursday, April 27 from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Venue Event Center at 5585 South Main Street.

“The United States Honor Flag Fundraiser Banquet gives us a chance to honor those heroes that walk among us everyday,” said Cynthia Cohn, Chief of Staff, U.S. Honor Flag. “The men and women that serve as police officers, emergency responders, and in our armed services have made the ultimate commitment to our nation, and we are doing our best to recognize that fact.”

The Honor Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to memorializing those heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for their family, community, and country. The group helps to promote an understanding within the American public of the commitment of their police, fire, and military communities.

Shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks, a flag was gifted to Chris Heisler by the Texas House of Representatives. Like many other Americans, Chris was compelled to take action during this tragic moment in the United States, and he organized one of the largest police motorcades in the history of the United States, bound for Ground Zero. Since that time, the United States Honor Flag has paid tribute to those that have lost their lives in the line of duty, protecting our lives, our homes, and our country.

To date, the U.S. Honor Flag has flown aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis, been raised over Ground Zero, many state capitols, the Pentagon, various presidential libraries, and has attended funerals and tributes for America’s fallen heroes in the line of duty.

The United States Honor Flag Fundraiser Banquet is open to the public, and tickets are available for $25 per person online. Tables can be sponsored for $250 by local businesses and organizations. The banquet will take place on Thursday, April 27, at the Venue Event Center, 5585 S. Main in Las Cruces.
