UTEP Cheerleading Coach Arrested For DWI

Authorities say a cheerleading coach for the University of Texas-El Paso was arrested for driving while intoxicated the day before the team's New Mexico Bowl match-up.

KOB-TV reports that court records show David Vasquez was pulled over in downtown Albuquerque around 2 a.m. Friday.

According to the documents, Vasquez told officers he had consumed two drinks at Effex Night Club,

Police say Vasquez refused to take a Breathalyzer test and was booked on aggravated DWI charges.

University of Texas-El Paso officials say Vasquez will not be joining the cheerleaders at Saturday's football game.

UTEP is set to square off with Utah State as the college football postseason gets underway.
