UTEP Sees Record Enrollment for 17th Consecutive Year

For the 17th consecutive year, a record number of students registered for the fall semester at The University of Texas at El Paso.

The University registered a total of 23,397 students compared to 23,079 last year, a 1.4% overall increase.

UTEP says the growth demonstrates continuing success in providing an accessible and excellent education to the Paso del Norte region.

“We are honored that so many students are selecting UTEP as their school of choice,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Gary Edens. “With a record-breaking enrollment and steady growth in first-time undergraduate, transfer and graduate students, UTEP continues to attract talented individuals who will study at an institution well on its way to being the top-tier research university of the 21st century.”

Fall 2015 semester saw an increase in new undergraduate students from 4,840 to 4,998, or 3.3%.

UTEP says its positioning as a national doctoral/research university has been reinforced by its overall 12.8% increase of new graduate students from Fall 2014 to Fall 2015.

“The increase in new graduate students is an exciting indication of the steady expansion of UTEP's doctoral program offerings and the development of master's programs that are tied to key demands in the professional workforce, regionally, nationally and internationally,” said Dr. Charles Ambler, dean of the UTEP Graduate School.

Among new graduate students, there was an increase of 20.2% in new doctoral students and a 11.6% increase in new masters students.
