Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) is reporting a marketing scam that targets its customers.
According to one customer, a telemarketer phoned and stated he could reduce the customer’s water bill for $1,000 under a LCU-sponsored program.
LCU emphasizes it does not have such a program and encourages customers who believe they may be potential victims of the scam to call the Las Cruces Police Department non-emergency number at 526-0795.
LCU operates gas, water, wastewater and solid waste services for the City of Las Cruces.
