VA Looking To Expand In Las Cruces

The Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for building space suitable for expansion of its medical clinic and services in Las Cruces.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that the department is advertising for 9,000 to 10,000 square feet of space within 15 miles of its current site.

An expansion could provide additional space for offices and medical services as well as the addition of full-time laboratory and physical therapy services.

The Las Cruces clinic opened in 1994. It has three doctors and a nurse practitioner and serves more than 13,000 veterans yearly.

City officials, veterans' advocates and members of the state's congressional delegation have long contended that the clinic is too small.
