Vado Man Arrested After Work Altercation Turns Physical

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators have arrested a Vado man on battery charges after an argument last month with a co-worker escalated.

According to a statement, Gabriel Lopez, 41, was herding cows at a dairy in the 13000 block of Stern on April 28, 2013 when he got into an argument with another employee who claimed Lopez wasn’t doing his job.

The argument turned physical, according to the co-worker, who alleged Lopez began to hit him repeatedly in the face and slammed his head into a metal gate.

The 46-year-old victim was transported to a Las Cruces-area hospital where he was treated for lacerations to his face.

Lopez was arrested at his home in the 9200 block of Swannack. He was transported to the Doña Ana County Detention Center and charged with aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated battery.

Lopez is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
