VIDEO: Las Cruces Schools Superintendent Finalists

LAS CRUCES---In early November, the Board of Education will make its final selection of a new superintendent for the Las Cruces school district.  Until that decision is reached, community residents can review comments made by the three finalists during a recent community forum, said LCPS spokeswoman Jo Galvan.  In addition, the candidates have provided a two-minute message to the community for the public’s review.

Galvan said the individual comments are available at the following Internet sites:  for Dr. Gregory Ewing of Marrieta, Georgia:

Galvan said the one-hour community forum held on September 29 at the Oñate High School Performing Arts Center is also online for those who could not attend — http://youtu.be/wDEESjfE57g.

“All three of the finalists are exceptional educators with varied backgrounds,” Galvan said.  “In addition to the interviews conducted by the School Board, the candidates also met with community-based groups, and those members have forwarded their feedback for the Board’s consideration.”

For the rest of this month, Galvan said the Board will continue with reference checks and will visit telephonically with residents who live in the applicants’ communities.

“The Board members will not physically travel to Georgia, Texas or Roswell, but they believe it’s important to touch base with people who live in the communities or have children in the school districts where the applicants are from,” Galvan added.
