New Mexico State University Police today released the names of the officer and suspect involved in Monday night’s shooting incident, along with the officer's body camera video.
The suspect is 28-year-old Karsten Cuthair, a student at NMSU.
Officer Jarrod Colliver, a two-year veteran with the NMSU Police department, responded to the 911 calls and fired two shots, one striking Cuthair in the right leg.
NMSU student Karsten Cuthair is back in Las Cruces tonight after being released from an El Paso hospital. Cuthair was arrested this evening by New Mexico State University Police on a warrant charging him with aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon, a third-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a fourth-degree felony; unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon on university premises and negligent use of a firearm, both petty misdemeanors.
