Warrant Issued For Armed Robbery Suspect Who Escaped Custody

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators have obtained a warrant for a woman wanted in connection with an armed robbery on Oct. 3.

Myra Villela, 33, is charged with armed robbery, tampering with evidence, escape from a peace officer and battery. The bond for her arrest has been set at $100,000 cash.

According to court documents, Villela and two other men were arrested Friday following a robbery in Chamberino. After Villela escaped from custody, the Doña Ana County Special Response Team was called out to help locate her.

The call was in response to an initial report in the 100 block of Medina where two people were reportedly robbed and threatened with a knife following an altercation with Villela, Vito Carrasco, 30, and Kevin Cadena, 22.  After getting a description of the three suspects and the vehicle they were in, deputies located all three just off Tequila Lane in Chamberino where their vehicle reportedly got stuck.

The victims and the suspects reportedly knew each other. The cause of the altercation is under investigation. The circumstances surrounding Villela’s escape are also under investigation.

Carrasco was jailed on charges of robbery, tampering with evidence and battery. His bond was set at $7,500 secured.

Cadena is being held on charges of armed robbery and tampering with evidence. His bond was set at $15,000 cash.

Villela is described as five feet tall, weighing about 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She sometimes goes by the name Nicole Villela and is known to frequent the Chamberino area, as well as Chaparral and El Paso.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority at (575) 526-0795 or 911.
