A Central Texas teenager charged with selling brownies laced with marijuana and hash oil is facing a punishment that could include life in prison.
Nineteen-year-old Jacob Lavoro was arrested in April when Round Rock police searched his apartment and found the 1.5 pounds of brownies.
Authorities say hash oil is a controlled substance with much harsher state penalties than marijuana. The oil has higher concentrations of the psychoactive component of marijuana and is in a penalty group with amphetamines and ecstasy.
Police say they also found $1,675 in cash, 16 ounces of marijuana and a cellphone detailing drug transactions.
Travis McDonald, the Williamson County prosecutor handling the case, says the sentencing range is five to 99 years or life in prison, but sentences can depend on aggravating factors and other considerations.
