WNMU Plans New Degrees

By KRWG News

Silver City – Western New Mexico University's regents have approved a five-year academic plan that calls for new degree programs.

Six certificate programs, five associate degrees, two baccalaureate degrees and 11 master's degrees will be proposed over the next five years. Two of the graduate degree programs would be offered online.

A doctorate in leadership for rural and diverse populations also is to be proposed. If approved, it would be the first doctorate offered at the Silver City university.

The state Higher Education Department also would have to approve graduate degree-level programs.

The regents approved the plan earlier this month.

Western currently offers 10 master's degrees.
