A woman suspected of physically assaulting a Las Cruces Police officer was arrested Saturday.
Rebecca Hoggan, 33, is charged with one count each of battery upon a peace officer and assault upon a peace officer.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to assist on a medical call at the Pic Quik store at 825 Avenida De Mesilla. As one of the officers made contact with Hoggan, the subject of the medical call, she became visibly agitated and requested to be handcuffed.
Hoggan began yelling profanities at the officer and then head-butted the officer’s right cheek. Shortly thereafter, Hoggan spat at the two officers who were trying to stabilize her on the ground.
Neither officer was seriously injured during the incident.
Hoggan was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
