Woman Faces Abuse Charges After Trash, Feces Found In Home

las-cruces.org

Police say a Las Cruces woman faces child abuse charges after they found her home littered with trash, dirty diapers and animal feces.

Police also say three children at the home of 29-year-old Stacy Adams had not bathed in weeks and appeared to have lice in their hair when officers were called to the house Monday. She is being held on three counts of negligent child abuse.

In a statement Tuesday, police said the children are 8, 6 and 1, and that the youngest had not be seen by a pediatrician since being born. Police were called to the home after a state Children, Youth and Families Department worker was denied access.

Detectives reportedly discovered the home hadn't had hot-water since November and a cat had deficated in the shower.

The children are now in CYFD custody.
