Woman Shot Dead After Chase By New Mexico State Police

New Mexico State Police say a 39-year-old Santa Fe woman is dead after a chase and a shooting involving a State Police officer.

Few details are known but the State Police say the incident started early Thursday morning when a State Police officer tried to pull over a vehicle for erratic driving.

According to State Police, the chase began when the vehicle wouldn't stop and the shooting was reported about five minutes later.

The dead woman is identified as 39-year-old Jeanette Anaya.

State Police say her unidentified male passenger was not injured and "will not be facing any charges at this time."

The State Police say their investigation continues, and no other details were released.
