Woman's Body Found In Flooded Santa Fe Arroyo

Santa Fe police say they don't know how a woman whose body was found in a flowing arroyo after a storm came to be there.

Police Lt. David Holliday says the body of 51-year-old Tina Vigil was found Monday evening after a resident saw it floating in the arroyo.

Holliday says identification was found on Vigil's body and that it appears she was caught in the flooding and drowned.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the afternoon storm dropped rain and hail, causing arroyos and streams in the area to swell with runoff.

Holliday says the arroyo where Vigil's body was found was filled with about eight feet of water at the peak.
