Yolanda Martinez, Native American Music Award Winner

February 8, 2013 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with three times Native American Music Award Winner, recording artist, composer and drum maker, Yolanda Martinez. She has been making drums since 1987 and made her first recording in 1992. Carlsbad native, Martinez received her first NAMMY, The Grammy for The Native American Music Industry, in 2005 as Best Female Artist. Her music consists of drumming and chanting, contemporary Native American, country, Latin and folk recordings.

Martinez will be one of three artists to be honored during February’s “For the Love of Art Month” show at the Las Cruces Convention Center, February 15th and 16th.  She will be performing on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday, at 3:45 p.m. For more information visit her website www.yolandasdrums.com
