Domenici and Bingaman discuss Domestic Energy and Border Security

Las Cruces, NM – U.S. Senators Jeff Bingaman and Pete Domenici say they're focusing on domestic energy and the US and Mexican border security. Bingaman and other border state senators will meet with Homeland Security Secretary Micheal Chertoff thursday to discuss further border actions. KRWG's Danielle Goodman has this report.

The events lured hundreds of avid readers many came to hear from their favorite writer like award winning, Mexican-American poet and writer Luis Alberto Urrea. KRWG's Marco Grajeda had a chance to meet with Urrea and talk about his latest book, one Urrea calls a woman's epic of spirit, family and violence.

Protestors Fill El Paso Plaza

LAS CRUCES, NM – Across the country hundreds of thousands of people are protesting an immigration bill proposed by U.S. Representative James Sensenbrenner. The bill would make undocumented immigrants, and people who aid them criminals. As KRWG's Marco Grajeda reports, hundreds of protestors filled the San Jacinto Plaza in El Paso, joining ralliers across the country, in opposition to House Resolution 4437.

Immigration Rally Held in Las Cruces

Las Cruces, NM – The United States Senate failed to pass a bill last week that wqould comprehensively overhaul immigration as well as counter the resolution passed by the House in December. As the debate continues on Capitol Hill, protestors gathered across the country. Field of Dresses: Ghostly Reminder of Murders in Chihuahua State

Las Cruces, NM – Last week's J. Paul Taylor Symposium for justice gave way with the words by relatives of some of the slain women of the Chihuahua state. First however, four-hundred dresses were hung on crosses as part of an installation commemorating the victims. As KRWG's Marco Grajeda reports, in just over ten years there have been at least that many unsolved murders of women, primarily in the border city of Juarez.
