A Las Cruces man was electrocuted Monday after he accidentally came into contact with a live power line.
Freddy Covington, 76, was reportedly pruning pecan trees on his property in the 3900 block of Crow just before 2 p.m. on Monday. He had been using a hydraulic lift to elevate himself into the trees when the lift became tangled with the power line.
Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators said Covington was pronounced dead shortly after they arrived.
