Active Transportation Plan Open House In Las Cruces

A public open house, where residents can learn more about an active transportation plan the City of Las Cruces is working on, will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 in the lobby of Bank of the West, 201 N. Church St.  Here is the information provided by Las Cruces:

Residents are welcome to attend the open house at any time during the hours of the event.

The active transportation plan continues efforts to build a system of sidewalks and bikeways to make walking and biking easy and safe. The plan will address barriers to walking and biking and build on the community’s prior work to help Las Cruces unlock the many benefits of walking and biking, including improving health outcomes and ease of access to destinations. The plan also aims to catalyze economic development, and demonstrate a community commitment to sustainability.

Plan materials can now be reviewed at: www.activelascruces.com. An online survey is anticipated to soon be available at the website.

There will be opportunities for residents and other community members to provide input on the plan’s vision and goals, as well as specific improvements needed to make walking and biking preferred forms of travel throughout the City.

Questions or comments about the plan’s development can be emailed to Senior City Planner Srijana Basnyat at: sbasnyat@las-cruces.org.
