AG Questions Suicide Ruling In Han Death

The New Mexico attorney general is questioning the Albuquerque police department's finding that a high-profile civil rights attorney committed suicide.

In a letter to the attorney suing the city and the police department over the handling of the 2010 death of Mary Han, Attorney General Gary King says the evidence fails to definitively indicate she took her own life. He says the real cause of death may never be determined because of the "puzzling police investigation."

King says the official cause of death should be changed to undetermined.

He says a review found the APD "terribly mishandled" its investigation of the death scene.

Han, who had sued many in the police department and city over the years, was found dead in her car in her garage in November of 2010.
