Arizona Ex-Convict Suspected Of Shooting Police Dog

Albuquerque police say a man once imprisoned in Arizona on burglary convictions was suspected of shooting a police dog during a business burglary Friday.

Police identified the man found dead on the business property after the dog was shot as 56-year-old Dale Anthony Lusian and said Lusian had criminal history in Arizona, Minnesota and Wyoming.

The Arizona Department of Corrections' website says Lusian in 1993 absconded while on parole for burglary convictions in Pinal County.

Police have not released a cause of death for Lusian but have said officers on the scene did not fire their weapons.

The police dog was shot several times and is recovering at his handler's home.
