Arrest Made After Two-Day Burglary Spree In Talavera Near Las Cruces

The suspect involved in a rash of residential burglaries in a neighborhood east of Las Cruces last week has been arrested, according to Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators.

Raymond Carreon, 27, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with three counts of aggravated residential burglary, one count of residential burglary, two counts of larceny over $2,500, and two counts of larceny over $250.

According to a criminal complaint, Carreon forced his way into three homes on Dec. 3 and 4 in the Talavera community near Soledad Canyon Road. At another home he allegedly burglarized, entrance was reportedly made through a side door that was left unlocked.

All victims were not home at the time the crimes were committed.

In each case, Carreon is suspected of taking several firearms, money, electronics and collectibles.

During the investigation, sheriff’s investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for Carreon’s vehicle after it was impounded by a Las Cruces Police officer who was dispatched to a narcotics call involving Carreon on Dec. 4 in the 400 block of Dartmouth.

Several items that were allegedly taken from the burglarized homes were in Carreon’s vehicle at the time.

Carreon is being held at the Doña Ana County Detention Center where he is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
