Arrest Warrant Issued In Fatal ABQ Crash

Authorities are searching for a driver who allegedly left the scene of an accident that killed one of his passengers on an Albuquerque street.

Bernalillo County Sheriff's officials say an arrest warrant has been issued for 19-year-old Christian Edgardo Diaz.

They say he's wanted on suspicion of vehicular homicide, tampering with evidence, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death and reckless driving.

Sheriff's officials say Diaz allegedly was driving at a high rate of speed Thursday and hit another vehicle.

They say Diaz's fron-seat passenger — identified as 18-year-old Ashley Gamez — died on scene.

Another passenger in the back seat was transported to an Albuquerque hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say Diaz fled the scene on foot prior to sheriff's deputies arrival and hasn't been located.
