Authorities say a body found in an irrigation canal has been identified as that of a Las Cruces man who hadn't been seen by his family in several days.
The name of the 60-year-old man wasn't immediately released Tuesday.
A passer-by called Las Cruces police after seeing a body in the irrigation canal shortly after noon Tuesday.
The man's family arrived on scene and told police detectives that he walked away from his Las Cruces home a couple of days ago and had not been seen since.
They also identified the man's body.
Investigators say no foul play is suspected in the man's death at this time.
The body will be sent to the New Mexico medical investigator's office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
