Authorities say a body found off a highway near Taos has been identified as a Texas man.
Taos County Sheriff's officials say the death of 30-year-old Brian Fields, of Austin, is being investigated as a suicide.
They say the body was discovered early Saturday off U.S. Highway 64 in Valle Escondido, which is about 13 miles east of Taos.
Authorities say the man was dead and had an apparent gunshot wound.
The New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator will determine the cause and method of death.
