ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Albuquerque, Farmington and statewide business organizations will hold a major press conference on Thursday to voice support for the PNM Plan for the San Juan Generating Station. A closure of the plant would bring serious negative economic impact for New Mexico, including rate hikes and lost jobs.
Scheduled to appear at the press conference are ACI, the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry; AED, Albuquerque Economic Development; NAIOP, the commercial real estate development association; the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, and others.
Representatives from economic development and business organizations will voice the consensus that the PNM Plan would be a much better outcome for the state than closing down the entire plant and seeing electricity rates rise statewide.
In addition, Ray Hagerman of the Four Corners Economic Development Association will attend, along with miners, small business owners, and others from the Farmington area in support of the PNM Plan. They will provide information on the economy of northwest New Mexico and job losses faced.
