Charges After Fatal Crash

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Authorities say a Las Cruces man will be facing felony charges in an alcohol-related crash that killed a passenger in his car.

New Mexico police say 21-year-old Jacob Perez of Las Cruces died after he was ejected from the rollover accident on Interstate 10 about 4 a.m. Monday.

Police say they believe 23-year-old Vicente Trejo was driving drunk and lost control of his vehicle after he drove off the roadway onto the shoulder. They say Perez was pronounced dead at the scene and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Another passenger was treated and released while authorities say Trejo was transported for medical treatment and remains hospitalized.
