Charges Dropped Against Woman Connected To Veteran's Death

New Mexico officials have dropped charges against a woman accused of killing decorated veteran at an Albuquerque ATM.

KOAT-TV reports that the Bernalillo County District Attorney's office dropped robbery and tampering charges against Veronica Trimble on Thursday. Prosecutors say they didn't have significant evidence against her.

Trimble and Mathew Chavez were arrested earlier this year in the February shooting of 24-year-old Army veteran Tyler Lackey.

Investigators say Lackey and a friend stopped by the ATM and Chavez tried to rob Lackey. They say Chavez shot at the veteran while driving away and that Trimble was with him at the time.

Court documents say witnesses who could have tied Timble to the attempted robbery wouldn't cooperate with the case.
