Dacia Sedillo named NMSU’s Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management

Dacia Sedillo has been named associate vice president for enrollment management at New Mexico State University. NMSU’s university admissions, university financial aid and scholarship services and university registrar’s offices will report to Sedillo.

“I am excited to take on this new challenge and work with the administration to plan and manage enrollment more strategically,” Sedillo said. “This position entails the day-to-day management of undergraduate recruitment, admissions, prospective student and family programming, residency determination, student record maintenance, course scheduling, registration, degree certification, federal, state and institutional financial aid awarding and disbursement, and legal compliance related to these functions.”

Sedillo, who has worked at NMSU for nearly 20 years, will advise the university administration on student enrollment issues and report data analysis that will assist the deans, presidents, chancellor and provost in making informed decisions about student enrollment, regulatory compliance and state and federal reporting.

“I am very pleased to have Dacia serving in this role. She brings a wealth of knowledge from a very unique perspective, and possesses excellent leadership skill and ability to work with the various stakeholders who contribute to the enrollment goals of the institution,” said Bernadette Montoya, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management.

Sedillo is a two-time NMSU alumna. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1994 and a master’s degree in public administration in 2006.

From 1995 to 2007, Sedillo worked in various departments at NMSU including University Accounts Receivable, Astronomy and the College of Education’s Research Center.

After a two-year hiatus from the university, Sedillo joined Student Affairs and Enrollment Management in January 2009 and learned the complexities of financial aid regulations, scholarship leveraging, recruitment marketing and the Banner student information system.

Additionally, Sedillo has been a nationally certified research administrator, graduate of The Chair Leadership Academy’s Foundation Program in transformational leadership and completed a nationally recognized Fundamentals of Strategic Enrollment Management program through the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
