On the eve of a Thursday enrollment deadline, the CEO of New Mexico's health insurance exchange said it's encouraging that nearly 41,000 state residents selected an insurance plan or were automatically re-enrolled through the federally-facilitated marketplace as of last Friday.
CEO of Amy Dowd said Wednesday that the exchange worked hard to educate consumers on their health coverage options.
Open Enrollment began Nov. 15 and Thursday is the second open enrollment deadline for 2015.
Individuals and families signing up by Thursday and making their first payment will begin receiving coverage starting Feb. 1.
The final open enrollment deadline is Feb. 15, and the exchange says people missing that deadline likely will have to wait to sign up for coverage until the next open enrollment season, with coverage starting in 2016.
