Democratic Candidate For Congress Reports Strong Fundraising

Rocky Lara, candidate for Congress in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District will report having raised more than $300,000 in the first fundraising quarter of 2014.  Lara faces Republican incumbent Rep. Steve Pearce in November.

Lara’s campaign will report having more than $440,000 cash on hand as of March 31. Since entering the race in September, Lara has raised more than $565,000. More than 2,800 individual donors contributed to Lara’s campaign in the first quarter of 2014, with more than 93% of her donors contributing $250 or less.

“The strong grassroots support our campaign received is a clear sign that people are fed up with the lack of leadership and partisan politics that have gridlocked Washington,” said Rocky Lara. “Our message of commonsense representation is spreading across southern New Mexico and we are going to continue to build a grassroots campaign that focuses on job creation and growing the economy, not the partisan ideology that the Congressman Pearce has been part of in Washington.”

Q1 reports are due to be filed with the Federal Election Commission by April 15, 2014.
