Las Cruces – A Dona Ana County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a teenager after responding to a call about a group of young people stealing beer at a store in Mesquite near N.M. 192.
The teen was identified as 17-year-old Nick Dominguez.
A New Mexico Department of Public Safety news release says the deputy shot him with a Taser when Dominguez tried to grab the deputy's gun Monday evening.
DPS says the teen fled, got into the deputy's vehicle and put it in gear.
The news release says the deputy fired, striking Dominguez several times.
State police are investigating.
