Doctor Who Retired In Las Cruces Indicted On Sex Charges Involving Minors

A retired doctor who had an office in North Conway, New Hampshire, has been indicted on sex assault charges involving female patients under the age of 13.

Seventy-five-year-old Thomas Packard of Las Cruces, New Mexico, was indicted by a Carroll County grand jury on a dozen counts of felony sex assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 16.

The indictments identify two girls by their initials and contain claims of numerous kinds of sexual contact between Jan. 1, 1984 and Dec. 31, 1985. The indictments are dated Aug. 21.

Each charge is punishable by 10 to 30 years in prison.

It could not immediately be learned if Packard has a lawyer. A phone listed to Packard in New Mexico rang unanswered Friday morning.
