Documentary On End Of Life Decisions Airs Thursday On KRWG-TV

Today (Thursday) is National Healthcare Decisions Day.  It’s designed to raise awareness about the need for end of life planning.

A documentary on the issue airs tonight at 9 on KRWG-TV.

“Consider the Conversation 2: Stories about Cure, Relief, and Comfort” is an Emmy-nominated film that examines the challenges surrounding end-of-life discussions.

Often…people don’t talk about their wishes and doctors have to start the conversation with family members of a terminally-ill patient.  Dr. Amanda Redig, an internal medicine resident at Harvard Medical School says that is difficult, and sometimes, family members become angry at the suggestion their loved one may not survive an illness.

There’s also a chance to learn more about this issue at a free event next month.  The College of Health and Social Services at NMSU will host its second Dean’s Health Symposium in Las Cruces on May 1. This year’s one-day seminar, “A Beautiful Death: What will you choose?” will be held at the Las Cruces Convention Center. The event is free and open to the public.
