Dona Ana County To Showcase Emergency Response Efforts June 5

In the event of a natural or manmade disaster, emergency planners and first-responders are ready in Doña Ana County, and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) wants the public to see those efforts first-hand.

The LEPC’s Emergency Response Showcase will be Wednesday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Doña Ana Community College East Mesa Campus, located at 2800 Sonoma Ranch Boulevard.

Emergency vehicles and first-response units will be staged in the northeast parking lot for the public to see.

“We are looking forward to this opportunity to show our community the equipment, manpower and expertise we have standing ready at a moment’s notice,” said David Almaguer, supervisor at the Office of Emergency Management. “We’ve seen natural disasters in Doña Ana County with flooding and freezing, and in the event we were to experience another disaster of that nature, or a manmade disaster, our local emergency plan stand ready. We want the public to know they are in good hands.”

Several local law enforcement agencies will be part of the Showcase, including the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department.

The event is free and open to the public.
