Downed power lines along Rinconada Boulevard, caused by an early Friday morning crash, will force the closure of a small but busy portion of the roadway between Bataan Memorial West and Northrise Drive for most of the day while utility crews make the necessary repairs.
The eastbound offramp from Highway 70 at Rinconada will also be closed for most of Friday.
Shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, a vehicle crashed into a utility pole which caused the power lines to dangerously droop over the roadway. El Paso Electric crews expect the repairs to last most of Friday and, for safety purposes, the portion of Rinconada must be closed to traffic.
The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash was not injured. She was arrested on suspicion of DWI.
Motorists who must travel in the area are asked to reduce speeds, and watch for traffic barriers and utility crews.
