Education Unions Announce Santa Fe March And Rally

Albuquerque – The American Federation of Teachers New Mexico (AFT NM) and the National Education Association – New Mexico (NEA-NM) will unite for a Moral Monday March and Rally in Santa Fe Monday, February 16, 2015.

”Educators from across New Mexico along with our Labor and community allies will gather in solidarity at 11 a.m. at the Santa Fe Rail Yards.   We will then march to the roundhouse, where at a brief second rally participants will be encouraged to visit their legislators’ offices.   We will raise our collective voice to oppose legislative proposals detrimental to our profession, our students and our communities,” said NEA-NM President Patterson.

“We must reclaim the promise of America by fighting for all students to have the right to succeed and to be treated as individuals.  We must reclaim respect for education professionals, and we must ensure respect for working families is the law of the land in New Mexico.  There is no better way to achieve these goals than to exercise our collective right of assembly and petition our elected officials,” said AFT NM President Ly.

Combined, AFT NM and NEA-NM represent all public education employees and higher education employees throughout New Mexico.
