El Paso Clinic To Offer Mental Health Services To Veterans And Family Members

This summer, a new clinic is scheduled to open that will offer counseling services to Post 9/11 veterans and their loved ones with mental health issues.

Construction is underway at what is scheduled to be the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Family Endeavors on El Paso’s east side. Family Endeavors CEO Travis Pearson explains what the clinic will offer.

“The clinic is going to offer free counseling to veterans and their family members free of charge," says Pearson.

The Cohen Veterans Network is funding the effort through a $275 million investment by billionaire hedge fund manager and philanthropist Stephan Cohen. The organization has a goal of open twenty-five mental health clinics around the country over five years. Anthony Guido, Vice-President of Communications and Marketing for the Cohen Veterans Network says the organization is moving forward towards it’s goal.

“We have five clinics already and almost three thousand clients already, those are veterans and their family members have received treatment; and here we are in year two opening up the next round of clinics to help meet our mission,” says Guido.

The Cohen Veterans Network says the clinic will offer these services to not only veterans, but also their families, and that is something that Family Endeavors CEO Travis Pearson says is a new approach to taking on behavioral health issues like PTSD.

“Here, we can bring the entire family together, because Post Traumatic Stress doesn’t just impact the veteran. Post Traumatic Stress or depression, or other mental health issues impact the entire family,” says Pearson.

According to the groups, the clinic will offer additional services that may help veterans and their families gain access to housing, food, and job counseling.

The clinic is on track to open July 5 in El Paso.
