El Paso – A 7-year-old boy who attended school in El Paso has been slain in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, in shootings that also left his father dead.
Officials with Glen Cove Elementary School confirm third-grader Raul Xazziel Ramirez-Ramirez was killed. Counselors are on hand to help students and staff. A letter about the killing was sent home to parents on Monday.
Ysleta Independent School District spokeswoman Patricia Ayala says the boy, who was gunned down Friday night, lived with his aunt and uncle in El Paso, across the border from Juarez.
Chihuahua state police believe the child was with his father, 35-year-old Raul Ramirez Alvarado, whose gunshot body was found in a vehicle. The boy's body was nearby on the pavement.
No arrests were immediately announced.
