"Election Fest" Saturday In Las Cruces

The Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections, in partnership with the League of Women Voters, the Democratic Party of Doña Ana County and the Doña Ana County Republican Party, will host “Election Fest: A Celebration of Democracy” on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Young Park in Las Cruces from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Coordinators with the Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections say the family-friendly gathering will feature live music, food, amusement park rides and free laser tag.

At Election Fest, Doña Ana County residents can learn more about alternate early-voting locations and can register to vote before the Oct. 7, 2014, deadline in order to participate in the Nov. 4 General Elections. Early voting also starts on Oct. 7.

In addition to Election Fest, the Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections has scheduled poll-worker training for both early voting and Election Day. Trainings will be held at the Doña Ana County Government Center on Sept. 22 and Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon; on Oct. 20 and 24 from 6-8 p.m.; on Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2-4 p.m.; and on Oct. 28 and 30 from 6-8 p.m.

A training will be coordinated at the Hatch Learning Center on Oct. 22 from 6-8 p.m., and another at the Gadsden Learning Center from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 23.
