Evacuation Order On Luna, NM, Is Lifted

Luna, New Mexico – LUNA, N.M. (KRWG) The wildfire that was burning in northeastern Arizona and into New Mexico is now 61 percent contained.

Luna, N.M., residents were allowed to return home Wednesday after the Wallow wildfire forced them out of their homes.

Catron County Undersheriff Ian Fletcher says the evacuation order was lifted.

Fletcher says law enforcement will remain in the area to protect residents and firefighters.

The U.S. Forest Service says the fire now is 61 percent contained after burning nearly 530,000 acres or 828 square miles in Arizona and part of western New Mexico.
