The FBI is looking into allegations that a Clovis police officer used excessive force against a handcuffed man facing misdemeanor charges from a heated traffic stop.
The Clovis News Journal reports reports that FBI spokesman Frank Fisher said the FBI doesn't confirm or deny investigations. However, two city officials said an FBI agent recently requested the investigative file on the August stop.
Clovis police launched an investigation of the stop following a YouTube video of officer Brent Aguilar slamming Jorge Corona into the asphalt.
Corona faces misdemeanor counts of concealing identity and resisting arrest.
An affidavit filed by Aguilar said he took down Corona because Corona was trying to turn while being escorted to Aguilar's squad car.
